Where better to celebrate St Patrick’s
Day than Ireland’s capital city, Dublin? So what’s on offer for you and your
friends and family? Well, St Patrick’s Festival has put together a range of
stuff for you to do across the city over the entire weekend. Whether you are
visiting Dublin for the first time, a frequent visitor or someone who has lived
here their whole life, there is something for everyone.
Here are just a few of the great things
on offer;
Fun times at the Funfair:

Remember what it was like being a
little kid or bring your own kiddies to the funfair at Merrion Square, just a
short stroll from Grand Canal Hotel. The fun fair will start on the Friday
evening and will be there until Monday night so there is plenty of time to to have
a go on your old favourite rides whether it’s a fast roller coaster, a fun carrousel
or a sightseeing Ferris wheel.

Saturday 15th & Sunday 16th March: 11am to 10pm

Dublin City is
going GREEN:
Many of the Dublin’s
well known buildings all across the city will be turning green for Paddy’s
weekend. Will your favourite be one of them?

See Dublin’s treasures and win prizes
with a festive treasure hunt:
On Saturday 15th, explore
Dublin’s famous landmarks and hidden treasure by solving clues and puzzles to win
prizes. There will be entertainment throughout the day and all participants are encouraged to dress up as explorers for the hunt - prizes will be given for
the best dressed so join in the fun and look the part.

St Patrick’s Walking Tour:
Walk through picturesque & historical
areas of Dublin led by well-known historian Pat Liddy. View ancient sites and learn about Dublin’s
pre- Viking history and St Patrick’s involvement in how the area came to be as
well as everything that followed. There will be two walks a day from Thursday
13th – Tuesday 18th with the exception on Monday 17th
when there will be just the one walk.

The
Big One:
St Patrick’s Day Parade
The main event, the St Patrick’s Day Parade, will begin on Parnell
Square 12pm on Monday the 17th. This year’s theme is “Let’s Make History” and the millennium anniversary
of the historic battle, the Battle of Clontarf 1014 will be celebrated in the
Parade with an appearance from the legendary Brian Boru.
You can also expect
all of usual colour and life from the Parade as well as bands from across the
world including the USA, Germany, Estonia and Ireland to play the elevating pageant
music.
